Making realistic rust paint
filed in Tutorials on Sep.17, 2008
If you have some warjack standing in the rain or you just need that car to look old and rusty, well here’s the sollution:
With the following ingredients you can make your own realistic rust paint in no time.
-a small glass closeable jar ( I used an empty tamiya paint one for it)
-some bleach
-steel wool, you know the sponge most people use to cleand their kitchen sink
-vinegar
Ok here you go, but before you start make sure you are in a well ventilated area or just outside because the gasses are not that super for your health I think.
First pull a small piece about 2×2cm of the sponge and put it in the jar, add 50/50 vinegar and bleach. Now mix this thoroughly but don’t close the jar, let it settle for a couple of hours before mixing again and after some time the rust begins to start, now your paint is ready. Well it’s not real paint but more a wash to apply over your metallic areas.
Have fun with it.
