Zombies
Scientists who try to find a cure for eternal youth have gone great lengths to achieve their goal, they even used dead tissue for their god defying ideas.
One scientist in particular; Josh Mengele has made the most progress with his research, he managed to keep his beloved Ania alive while she suffered a live threatening disease, he coulnd’t pull the plug so instead he injected his new found so called “cure” into his lovely wife. As he requested some privacy with his wife in the hospital the nurses and doctor left the room, but when they returned they found an empty room with the windows wide open, they escaped.
This is the time the outbreak began, strange rumours where spreading through town, some people saw a car crash with people dying and a moment later walking again, cops shooting criminals who refuse to stay down and afterwards attacking the cops again.
All live in Deadville hanging on a thin line, the city was put in quarantine and the ones still living in this nest of the walking dead had to cooperate with one another to survive this unslaught, the story begins…..
Dead walk again is a fast skirmish game for 1 to infinite players, I said 1 because you can even play it solo which is a great addition when you are alone or want to play more then your friends do.
The rules are designed by Jorgen Bengtsson at Planned movement production.
I will also make a list of the known zombie rules sets out there, and they are many so behold.
The miniatures
There are a lot of zombie miniature companies in a number of different scales, I play 28mm zombies but 15mm and 20mm are also really popular.
I will list here the companies who make zombies/ survivors and their scales, when I have some photo’s of their miniatures I will try to post them to this article, so only the 28mm zombies are my own miniatures. This is an ongoing attempt to list all major and smaller miniature companies that make the zombies and survivors needed to play zombie games so if you have some more links don’t hesitate to contact me and I will gladly add them here.
15mm zombies
http://www.twilightcreationsinc.com/ – twilight creation is mostly known by their excellent little zombie game “Zombies”, this was also my first contact with zombie gaming. If you only would like to have 15mm zombies you can check out their bag o zombies, but keep in mind that every bag contains only duplicates of the same figure.
http://www.rebelminis.com/15mm-zombies-and-unde.html – great modern zombie line, what else can I say
20mm (1/72) zombies
http://www.elhiemfigures.com/index.html – they look great and have about the same level of detail most 28mm minis have
28mm zombies
http://www.grekwoodminiatures.co.uk – nice range of cool horror themed miniatures, they even have a miniature based on one of my favorite characters (Pyramide head)
http://www.studiominiatures.com/index.html – a new company with nice previews of their comming range
http://www.musketeer-miniatures.com/index.php – nice zombies and survivors
http://www.zombiesmith.com/ – great looking zombies for a steal, I ordered the zombiehorde and some survivors
http://www.comfychairgames.com/ – awesome survivors to form gangs
http://www.fortressfigures.com/ – great and weird zombie stuff here
http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/ – the main body of my zombie horde comes from them and they offer nice variety
http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/ – one of my favorites for survivors, they even have a Shaun and his zombie counterpart from the excellent movie Shaun of the Dead
http://www.wyrd-games.net/ – the quality of their sculpts is just awe inspiring and some minis of their range fit great in a horror themed miniature game
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/horrorclix/ – these pre-painted miniatures are sold in random blisters unfortunatly but you can easily find someone who is willing to trade in his doubles on ebay or so. I especially like the minis from the lab expansion.
http://www.recreationalconflict.com/ – they currently have 10 survivors and 10 zombies from excellent quality, especially the vicar with a huge cross between his ribs.
http://kingzombie.com/ – they have all sorts of thing about zombies and some nice looking minis too
http://bluemoonmanufacturing.com/ – they just released 4 boxed sets packed with zombie goodness, they even have all great persons from ww2 as a zombie
.
http://www.missminiatures.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?cart_id=1235467322.384/ – for all resident evil fans; they have the zombie dogs you are looking for, also some great survivors and a lot of zombies.
http://www.wargamesfactory.com/Home.htm/ – I think this company has lots of potential because they sculpt by using a 3d program on a computer so they could give the mini more detail, they are currently working on a plastic zombie sprue.
The rule systems.
http://www.pm-production.nu/ – Dead Walk Again. First of all after reading through lots of posts on various forums I decided this will be my gaming rules to use and after playing some games I really like them, they are fast and easy to learn though they can offer deep gameplay ( well for a zombie game at least)
http://www.allthingszombie.com/ – All things Zombie.
http://www.combatzonechronicles.net/cozo4/xzombi4.htm/ – Combat zone chronicles
Inspiration
http://www.allflesh.com/ – this is actually a RPG which I don’t play but I use the books to create most scenarios, this RPG is filled with great ideas to set up your games

Hi there,
I know this is an old post, but I thought you might like to know a new company called “Grekwood Miniatures” is opening very soon, and will be selling some 28mm zombies. More ranges will be added as time goes on. Cheers.
